Job Description

  • The Kratos Spectral Services (KSS) Network Operations Center (NOC) leverages the Kratos Global Sensor Network (KGSN) to deliver solutions for multiple Kratos customers. Operational roles within the Kratos NOC include:
  • Monitoring satellite communications (SATCOM) links at the RF level for signs of problems or interference, and driving mitigation and resolution actions with customers
  • Helping customers understand utilization and operational configuration of owned, leased, or third-party space-based assets
  • Providing precision position, velocity, maneuver, and potential anomaly data for satellites
  • Providing tailored solutions including cloud-based data centers, custom antennas with global hosting, and turnkey mission operations
  • The duties and responsibilities of the NOC Shift Supervisor shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
  • Perform daily supervision of assigned personnel and shift operations in the NOC to ensure that all performance and contractual requirements are being met.
  • Ensure effectiveness of the NOC shift changes to include structure, information exchange, and timely attendance of all NOC personnel in accordance with published guidance
  • Collaborate with NOC Training Specialist and NOC Supervisor to review training of assigned NOC personnel and address issues with employee competency and training programs   
  • Support NOC Supervisor in developing new hires into more senior technical and leadership roles. 
  • Author employee reviews, awards, and disciplinary memorandums.  Support NOC Supervisor and HR in the execution of performance improvement plans and other disciplinary actions. 
  • Review existing NOC procedures to ensure effectiveness and relevancy. Collaborate with the NOC Supervisor on implementation of revisions and improvements.
  • Support assigned shift by handling elevated customer issues and when needed refer these issues to NOC Supervisor or other teams.  This may require taking calls for elevated issues during off-hours.
  • Support NOC supervisor in authoring the shift schedule.  Ensure all assigned personnel abide by the shift schedule to ensure appropriate 24x7 NOC staffing. Manage call-offs and other shift coverage plans for assigned personnel.
  • Provide guidance to assigned personnel for charging time to specified project codes. Monitor time charging for accuracy and timeliness, review and approve time sheets per corporate guidelines.
  • Support NOC Supervisor with the interview, onboarding, and when necessary termination of personnel
  • Support NOC Supervisor and other NOC Shift Leads in implementation of NOC-wide changes and enforcement of NOC policies and procedures
  • Train assigned personnel to utilize system measurement data, system faults, good judgement, and practical experience with SATCOM issues to diagnose customer problems
  • Ensure assigned personnel exercise discretion by following non-disclosure agreements and operational guidelines when elevating sensitive customer issues to third parties
  • Up to 10 percent travel required
  • Perform other duties as required



Experience and Skills


  • High School Diploma plus military or civilian technical school training in satellite communications
  • Minimum eight years in military and/or commercial SATCOM Satellite Network Operations Center operations plus Associate’s Degree in Electronics/Information Technology (IT)
  • Alternately, minimum eleven years in military and/or commercial SATCOM Satellite Network Operations Center operations without a technical college degree
  • Proven operations expertise in commercial and military satellite RF signals monitoring, Signal Analysis and Geolocation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the technical characteristics of commercial and military satellites, including frequency plans, payload configurations, antenna coverage patterns and transponder interconnectivity and characteristics.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and computer based application skills.
  • Experience training and mentoring junior personnel
  • Experience operating and maintaining Kratos MONICS CSM and / or satID products
  • Experience operating and maintaining TDoA / FDoA geolocation systems


  • Prior experience in the Kratos Spectral Services NOC or other KGSN programs is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/Information Technology (IT) plus military or civilian technical school training in satellite communications
  • Fifteen or more years professional experience in military and/or commercial Space / Satellite Operations Centers is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Information or Computer Science, Space Systems Operations, or Physics related to Orbital Mechanics
  • Professional military or civilian technical education in satellite communications and space operations
  • Experience operating Kratos MONICS CSM, satID, COMPASS, NeuralStar, OpsCenter, and / or OpenSpace products
  • Experience with TDoA / FDoA geolocation systems
  • Prior background in SATCOM or other signals intelligence / intercept systems and operations
  • Experience mentoring and supervising operations center personnel

Security Clearance: U.S. Citizenship and possession of minimum of a current US SECRET (S) on day of hire with the ability to maintain active clearance throughout employment is generally required for all NOC personnel. TOP SECRET / SCI level clearance is desirable. Extremely well qualified candidates without an active clearance may still be considered.
