5-D Systems, a KRATOS Company, is a growing defense contractor headquartered in Round Rock, TX with over twenty years’ experience providing systems and software engineering for Unmanned Aircraft Systems. With an ever-increasing government interest in unmanned aircraft and autonomous drone capability, we are fortunate to be experiencing a substantial backlog of projects.

KRATOS is seeking a highly motivated candidate who will provide program management leadership for the Integration and Test Program for new Aircraft Development Programs.  This position is full-time and requires experienced leadership and the ability to successfully work in a fast-paced team environment. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership and relevant defense industry program management as well as integration and test experience.  This position initially will be responsible for the overall ownership of a development program’s integration and test activities.  It includes management/coordination of technical and logistics activities to ensure efficient/effective test execution and for overall management of the flight test activities.

This position will interface with internal and external project team members, executive management, company personnel, as well as the customer. The position can be performed at our Arlington or Round Rock, Texas facilities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supports the Program Manager by developing the integration and test program/project objectives, creation and maintenance of the Integration and Test (I&T) plan/schedule and budgets and assists the Program Manager with analysis of program performance to ensure company and customer objectives are satisfied. Test planning and execution includes subsystem and system level, to include flight test.
  • Works with the Program Manager to verify that all test related contractual and Statement of Work (SOW) requirements are satisfied.
  • Issues project instructions and controls changes to project scope for the Aircraft Integration and Test activities in compliance with established quality system.
  • Works with customer and functional disciplines for planning and coordination of resources, equipment for the test activities to include travel coordination, and visitor requests to test sites as applicable.
  • Oversight of the technical activities to provide for efficient/effective test execution and for management of the flight risks during test execution.
  • Works with the Program Manager to ensure that the I&T team achieves objectives for cost, schedule, requirements verification, and safe, professional test conduct.
  • Supports the risk management program by providing input and status to ensure all I&T applicable risks are mitigated or abated.
  • Works with the Program Manager to report I&T program status and performance, as required by contract or internal company requirements.
  • Works in collaboration with the Program Manager to keep Customers informed in a timely manner of test program schedules, costs, and technical status.
  • Works with the Program Manager and other stakeholders to establish and monitor program metrics (cost, schedule, and technical).
  • Communicates and represents the Company professionally with all levels of internal and external personnel.

Experience and Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required:

  • 10 or more years of experience with the development of Air Vehicle Systems (Defense Industry experience)
  • 10 or more years of Program Management experience developing Air Vehicle Systems
  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) 5000 series
  • Detailed understanding of DoD Airworthiness requirements
  • Experience developing DoD Test Plans and working with DoD Range Safety Officers
  • Experience with Flight Test Panning and execution of flight tests
  • Must have strong technical, written, & analytical skills
  • Control Account Management (CAM) experience
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience
  • An active Security Clearance
  • Understanding of and experience working with, FAR/DFAR, Military Standards, and contract requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functionally to meet program/project requirements
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management, peers, individual contributors, and customers.
  • Ability to develop test program strategy and goals in alignment with overall company objectives

 Preferred:

  • Systems Engineering background
  • Demonstrated leadership in a complex development environment
  • Familiarity with contract provisions applicable to contracts and subcontracts
  • Experience with Unmanned Airborne Systems (UAS)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related field
  • Detailed understanding of doing business with the US Gov’t and DoD Customer Test and flight operations
  • Minimum 15 years related experience, ideally in support of Department of Defense contracts
  • Active U.S. security clearance and the ability to maintain this clearance

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work in person (not remote) from the Kratos 5-D Round Rock, TX or UAS Arlington, TX office
  • Office and/or Manufacturing environments
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)
  • Standing, walking, lifting, and carrying up to 25 lbs
  • May work extended hours or weekends
  • May work in non-temperature-controlled environments

 TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • ~25% travel to customer or government facilities/test activities
