Live Virtual Constructive Synthetic Training Integration Engineer

The Live Virtual Constructive Synthetic Training Integration Engineer is a member of the Live Virtual Constructive Synthetic Training engineering staff in support of international customer’s synthetic training solutions.   These solution primarily contain a core simulation baseline, various training systems and the enterprise training network.   The Integration Engineer provides systems engineering solutions for the integration of live, virtual and constructive simulation technologies in support of training and certification requirements.  

The Integration Engineer works onsite at the engineering center and performs engineering and project management activities in direct support of client initiatives that help fill training gaps through experimentation and prototyping of new technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, and legacy system interfacing.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Integration Engineer has the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Functions as lead integration engineer for projects involving integration of prototype simulations or trainers within the synthetic training environment.
  • Performs laboratory configuration management activities to ensure a stable R&D environment
  • Supports Research, Development, Testing & Experimentation (RDT&E) events which showcase new and emerging prototype training capabilities
  • Coordinates all other engineering functions within the organization (i.e. networks, operations, information assurance, security engineering, and software engineering) in support of RDT&E.
  • Coordinates with engineers from other organizations to ensure timely integration of prototype capabilities in support of RDT&E requirements and goals.
  • Periodically fills the role of technical lead in support of training exercises.  In this role, the Integration Engineer is the liaison between the Event Lead and the engineering department and is responsible for identifying and responding to simulation problems, notifying leadership of issues and coordinating with engineering resources to correct or work around the problem in order to ensure training success.

Experience and Skills

This position requires a U.S. DoD Secret clearance

Minimum education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

Minimum # of years of job related experience

  • 5+ years of experience is preferred

Minimum skill set and experience required

  • Should possess a thorough understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems and be able to use advanced capabilities of these systems
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, architectures, and transport technologies like TCP/IP
  • Knowledge of network troubleshooting both physical and logic
  • Ability to utilize network and distributed modeling and simulation tools such as Wireshark, PLEXSYS and SIMDIS
  • Knowledge of Distributed Simulation protocols such as High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS)
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot distributed simulation problems and provide acceptable solutions or corrections
  • Ability to provide technical project leadership, establish milestones, estimate resources, and other project manager skills
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comp TIA Security+ Linux+ certifications are required for the position and special consideration may be given to candidates with these certifications. If candidate does not already possess these certifications, training and certificate exam will be provided for the right candidate. 

Preferred skill set

  • Familiarization with Object Oriented Design (OOD) concepts and techniques
  • Knowledge of Navy C4I tactical systems such as Link 16 and GCCS

This position is contingent based on award in 4th quarter of 2022.
