Systems Engineer

Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Designs, develops, integrates, and tests hardware and electronic components to be applied to and integrated with engineering requirements for use on unmanned aerial and ground vehicle platforms.  Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support hardware systems from the board level to system level. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Lead technical research, design, development and testing of electronic components, products and systems
• Lead detailed design of test control apparatus and equipment
• Review all programs to ensure systems/design integrity of electrical and mechanical designs
• Ensure all efforts are completed on schedule and under budget
• Ensure all designs can be produced by manufacturing
• Interface and resolve technical or program issues with customers
• Provide technical assistance to overall company
• Continuously improve design process for all projects
• Must be at assigned worksite during assigned hours 100% of time; less PTO, FML/STD/LTD
• Must be able to travel to support existing and new customers

 

Other Job Functions

• Assist in training and mentoring new engineers
• Assist in the technical bid/proposal process
• Other duties may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:   

Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards

Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors

Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary

Ability to adhere to workplace rules

Ability to read, write and develop intelligible drawings, instructions and procedures

Ability to collaborate and work with a multi-functional team in a fast-paced environment

Strong and pronounced problem solving and analytical skills

Ability to lead a technical design team

Must have highly developed interpersonal skills to interact with and present to customers and senior management

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

BS in EE, Math or Physics or related technical field

Intermediate MS Office experience

Experience in development/test of microprocessor/computer-based control systems and related software

Experience in development, test and/or maintenance of RF or radar systems and airborne and ground command, control, and telemetry systems

Experience with program management or project engineering

Experience with MIL Standards

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Office and production environment

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time

Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)

Ability to lift  up to 25 pounds

Ability to travel, foreign and domestic

Ability to work on large, unmanned ground vehicles
