Job Description

 

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Ensures that product quality meets engineering requirements and that associated factory inspection processes prevent quality escapes to our customer.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Ensures appropriate inspections and acceptance tests are performed, as required.
  • Investigates internal manufacturing-related customer escapes and drives root cause and corrective action(s) to closure.
  • Ensures products and factory processes are compliant to QMS requirements.
  • Manages document control.
  • Maintains calibration system for measuring and monitoring equipment (MME).
  • Directs activities to identify, define, and resolve quality related problems.
  • Leads and facilitates cross-functional teams to solve quality related issues.
  • Uses Corrective Actions and other effective tools to drive change.
  • Monitors performance metrics, leads analysis of data, and serves as the champion for improvements to meet the company’s annual goals/objectives.
  • Executes action plans and initiates activity to reflect implementation of policy, specifications, and standards.
  • Promotes a culture of quality awareness.
  • Operates independently on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Exhibits sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
  • Anticipates future needs and develops time-phased plans to acquire personnel, technology, and equipment to support quality-related improvements.
  • Hires, counsels, trains, develops, and evaluates performance of Quality team members.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Directly manages team of exempt and/or non-exempt personnel performing quality engineering, mechanical inspection, and product assurance functions.

Required:

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules and policies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate professionally in writing or verbally with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be a self-directed professional.
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings, schematics, and military specifications.
  • Ability to analyze data, measurements, and other information to reach accurate conclusions.
  • Ability to think analytically and produce accurate analysis, while applying good judgment to conduct assigned responsibilities accurately and effectively.
  • Ability to close open actions in a timely manner and drive personnel teams to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

 

  • Bachelor ’s Degree or equivalent years of related job experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years quality assurance or manufacturing management with direct supervisory experience.
  • AS9100, ISO 9001:2015, DOD, and MIL-STD experience.
  • Effective computer, analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Process improvement / problem solving experience, i.e., CMMI, Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, 8D is desired.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) experience is desired.

 

 

Preferred:

  • May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Office setting with occasional duties in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion, i.e. keyboarding.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • May be exposed to possible shop hazards including high noise level, high pressure equipment, chemicals, and shop traffic.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • May occasionally be required for business travel up to 5% of-the-time.
