Job Description

Kratos Defense is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to join the Kratos Space team. The successful candidate will become an integral member of the Kratos Space engineering team responsible for shaping customer requirements, supporting strategic pursuits, technical proof of concepts, and establishing relationships with key customers and industry partners. Candidates should have relevant experience within the satellite industry designing and deploying enterprise ground systems. Experience with tactical ground systems and federal customers is preferred.

Daily activities will include the following: pre-sales solutions architecture, architectural design reviews, client presentations, business development support, round table discussions, whiteboard discussions, product demonstrations, proof of concepts, solution design/documentation.

Candidates must be able to identify market trends, influence customer requirements, capture business/mission requirements and define strategic value propositions related to Kratos products and solutions

The Solution Architect provides engineering support to the Kratos Space business development and sales teams, serving as a product/market/technology solution specialist. They are teamed with Product Management and Marketing for strategic product releases/launches and directly influence product roadmaps. They maintain a working knowledge of the market and use cases that our products and solutions address, developing and validating technical solutions across a broad team of engineers and accounts. Facilitate requirements gathering/identification sessions and design scalable cloud-based solutions to meet the customer’s needs. Act as a Solution Subject Matter Expert (SME). Define and defend value propositions related to emerging technologies within the satellite industry.  Up to 30% travel (domestic and international.)

 

  • Team with Product Management for targeted releases addressing specific markets.
  • Develop and maintain reference solution architectures and proof architectures for defined markets.
  • Prepare and deliver technical solution presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide solution architecture overviews for specific markets or targeted pursuits.
  • Define technology demonstrations to meet specific use cases.
  • Facilitate successful proof-of-concept (evaluation) engagements.
  • Team with Marketing to promote Kratos solutions.
  • Develop Whitepapers/Webinar content related to strategic go to market campaigns.
  • Provide SME Support for key account Managers within customer facing engagements.
  • Support global team with internal training/enablement activities per defined market.
  • Assist with delivery of internally or externally focused training efforts.
  • Provide SME Support in the preparation and production of written customer response RFI (Request For Information) and RFP (Request For Proposal).
  • Provide inputs to product management and solutions development roadmaps and share solutions developed in the field.

 

Experience and Skills

  • A Minimum Education level of a Bachelor's of Science Degree.
  • A minium of at least ten (6+) years of experience is required.
  • Strong systems engineering and architecture skills.
  • Candidates must have strong Windows, Linux and Network management skills.
  • An awareness of cloud/virtualization platforms, software defined networking, resource and service orchestration is required.
  • Must be able to complete Proof of Concepts, RFPs, Demos, implementations, etc.
  • Must have solid knowledge of security best practices.
  • Candidates with an understanding of protected communications systems preferred.
  • Candidates with programming or scripting background preferred.
  • Candidates should ideally be from a radio frequency management, earth observation, satellite service provider, or network management background with good technical abilities and previous experience supporting sales activities.
  • A background in small satellite systems (P-LEO/LEO) with an understanding of earth observation/remote sensing use-cases and ground infrastructure is desirable.
  • The ability to present to and communicate with technical leadership and executive leadership internally and externally.
  • The ability to work to strict deadlines, under pressure.
  • A Clearance is required.
