Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Facilities Supervisor will lead the maintenance department and support continuous improvement initiatives at all KUAS locations. The Facilities Supervisor will provide leadership to all maintenance staff by prioritizing daily activities emphasizing on safety protocol, product quality and equipment effectiveness. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains existing preventative maintenance activities for established facilities equipment to include; coordination of service requests related to Manufacturing Equipment, plumbing, painting, facilities, and HVAC.
  • Ensures preventative maintenance and repairs are completed on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with leadership team to identify facility layout and manufacturing process improvements.
  • Develops and maintain positive working relationships with employee’s at all organizational levels.
  • Plans and supports the development of individual skills and abilities within the maintenance department.
  • Maintains OEM manuals/information, equipment lists, equipment preventive maintenance schedules, records and routine maintenance records.
  • Coaches and counsels employees on a regular basis to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner and to promote effective communication.  Initiates disciplinary actions, evaluates performance, recommends wage actions, and hires new staff.
  • Trains and ensures that employees follow safety precautions.
  • Assigns the day-to-day planning of departmental maintenance staff developing methods, authorizing overtime and controlling costs.
  • Collaborates with Facilities Manager and EH&S to support special projects and OSHA requirements.
  • Supports company safety and environmental compliance programs.
  • Responds to emergency activities and provides direction as needed for the protection of personnel, facilities, systems and equipment.
  • Provides advice and training for all levels of personnel regarding security and plant operations.
  • Assures activities within the facilities department are within the defined scope and are accomplished in accordance with Kratos policies and procedures.
  • Ensures work areas and equipment are kept clean and hazard free.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  

Ensures employees track time spent on jobs, enters data electronically, and approves time cards weekly.

Experience and Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:   

  • Must have 4 years of experience comparable to a Maintenance Technician III in a manufacturing environment or similar agency.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
  • Ability to effectively communicate professionally in writing or verbally with all levels of personnel
  • Ability to provide effective direction, leadership, team development and training.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum AA degree in Business Administration or Management or 8 years equivalent experience.
  • Forklift Operator certificate Required
  • Must have the ability to select, appraise, motivate, and develop subordinates.
  • Must be able to demonstrate abilities in planning, prioritizing and delegating work assignments.
  • Provide technical and administrative guidance for activities in defined scope of responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in preparing and delivering reporting details.
  • Required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office and/or manufacturing  environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, climb and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion to include working with hand tools, power tools, and other related equipment.
  • May work in non-temperature controlled environments.
  • May work extended hours or weekends.
  • May work in confined spaces as needed.
  • May work from a variety of surfaces, level or unleveled areas as needed.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, hazard materials and dust.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Employee may generate, handle, manage, or work around hazardous materials and hazardous wastes.
