Job Description

Kratos Training Systems (KTS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Program Manager. The KTS Orlando Facility is the corporate headquarters for training systems and services. Our ideal candidate will:

Manage and direct the daily execution of contract requirements to ensure that cost, schedules and performance goals are met

Lead all meetings and the integrated product team (kick-off through project close)

Interface, communicate and coordinate with internal and external customers on matters pertaining to assigned contracts.

Participate as a team member or leader on bid and proposal activities.

Represent Kratos at program reviews and meetings

Prepare for and participate in contract/subcontract negotiations.

Develop and implement plans and schedules to execute assigned programs.  Allocate and control budgets for labor, material, travel, and subcontracts.

Report forward looking program status to senior management on a monthly basis

Formally identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risk throughout the program life cycle. Obtain management approval prior to making decisions that will cause an impact to established program, cost and schedule objectives/plans.

Lead development and implementation of corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident.

Perform variance analyses of schedule and cost on a formal and informal basis to ensure the program team is acting in a  proactive manner in pursuit of continuous program execution improvement and/or to identify issues for corrective action.

Serve as the primary interface with the customer on all matters involving execution. Coordinate with other departments on resolution of issues/problems with the customer. Coordinate with Contracts on issues pertaining to contract requirements, changes, and interpretations.

Ensure that conduct of contract requirements are executed in accordance with appropriate regulations and Company policies and procedures

Provide leadership to program team. Ensure communication and cooperation among team members and resolve areas of conflict

Experience and Skills

Minimum education needed: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Science in Engineering or a related discipline

Preferred education:

  • Master's degree of Science in Engineering or Technical Management 

Minimum number of years of job related experience needed:

  • 12 years

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities needed:

  • Strong customer relationship and customer expectation management skills
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project
  • Working knowledge of Risk/Opportunity Management and Earned Value Management
  • Previous management experience delivering training and simulation products 
  • Experience managing hardware development or production programs
  • Knowledge and understanding of the systems engineering life cycle and processes
  • Working knowledge of Department of Defense Acquisition Frame- work and associated design milestones

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • PMP certified (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience working within the virtual training domain, projection-based technologies, image generators, and simulated weapon systems
  • Specific experience working with NAWCTSC, NAVAIR, PEO STRI, US ARMY, US NAVY, USAF program offices
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
