Summary:

As a Manufacturing Product Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to maintain smooth and high-quality manufacturing output for the Products under your responsibility. As a key member of the New Product Introduction (NPI) Team, you will engage deeply with the Product Development team from the onset of the Product Lifecycle, and throughout the NPI process.  Once the Product is stable in Production, you will assume responsibility for understanding and correcting downstream challenges with the Product.  You will use your knowledge of radio communications systems, RF/mixed signal board design, an extensive array of test equipment and test results, manufacturing processes throughout the supply chain, and root cause determination to understand and eliminate reductions to manufacturing throughput or quality, throughout the life of the Product.

Responsibilities:

You will be tasked to learn the Product design and operation at a deep level through your participation in the NPI.  Starting with architecture and design reviews, continuing through prototype turn-on, testing and characterization, and culminating in approval for First Customer Shipments and Production Stability, you will gain expert knowledge of your Products.  You will then be tasked with using your skills, expertise, and Product knowledge to understand and correct manufacturing challenges during the shipping life of the Product.  Given that these challenges can come from supplier quality issues, part obsolescence, software/firmware/test-code changes, engineering change orders, process changes, etc., you will be tasked with collaborating with suppliers, Product Development, Production Test, Quality, Customer Support and a variety of other partners along the way.

Experience and Skills

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering with an emphasis on electronics, technical degree preferred. May consider equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 4 or more years of job related experience
  • Strong theoretical knowledge of radio communications systems including software defined radios, RF transceiver architectures, RF to digital interfaces such as ADCs, DACs, and clocking architectures
  • Experience with mixed signal PCB designs that include a mix of RF/microwave circuits, FPGAs, DDR memory, and high speed serial interfaces
  • Experience in design for manufacture, reliability, sustainment, and product lifecycle
  • Prior experience working with a cross functional hardware design team
  • Experience with troubleshooting RF performance
  • Manufacturing engineering experience producing high complexity electronics
  • Familiarity with raw printed circuit board (PCB) and loaded printed circuit assembly (PCA) manufacturing processes and challenges
  • Familiarity with applied statistics related to manufacturing test data
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
