5-D Systems, Inc. a KRATOs company, is a defense contractor, with a business site located in Huntsville Alabama.  5-D provides superior technical assistance support to our customers, with a focus on Systems and Software engineering services, technical management, and logistics solutions.  We are seeking highly motivated, focused candidates for a full-time opportunity.

5-D has an opportunity to fill a Systems Engineer position supporting a government software office addressing Army Air and Missile Defense systems, with focus on Mission Command systems. This system engineering position will provide guidance and oversight to ensure requirements and provisions are satisfied for foreign military sale of software. Tasks will include developing Features description documents that capture concept of capability update, proposed solution, and acceptance criteria, working with the Program management team to prioritize Feature development. The system engineer must be highly organized with a strong technical background in system engineering principles and requirements decomposition.

Position Description

The candidate in this role will function within the project office’s software directorate and will work with both contractors, government civilians and system operators. The candidate must be a self-starter and comfortable in a fast-paced working environment and be willing to engage various levels of stakeholders to ensure that FMS Features developed are capable of meeting the needs of the intended users. 

Experience and Skills

Basic Qualifications

The candidate must:

  • Be a US citizen
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college (ABET) in engineering
  • Have 10 or more years of system engineering experience
  • Have background in requirements decomposition, MBSE, Modular Open Systems Architectures and Use case development
  • Have a record of taking initiative and being a team player in a small team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, experience working with both development staff and end users, and a strong work ethic

Other Qualifications:

  • System engineering experience in support of DoD programs is preferred, especially in an Army Air and Missile Defense program is highly desired
  • Experience with systems engineering in an Agile methodology highly desired. SAFe© Agile experience a plus

Security Requirements

Candidate must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
