Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

This position supports the Quality function throughout the Corrective Action lifecycle. This individual’s influence spans all departments within the KUAS division, including working closely with management to prioritize business and information needs. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Tracks and maintains database for Non-Conformances (NCs), & Corrective Actions (CAs) in the Quality system (TIP-QA).
  • Engages parties within KUAS to determine next steps, requirements, and ensure completion of all Corrective Actions (CA) in a timely manner.
  • Provides training on the use of TIP-QA CA and Non-Conformance (NC) modules.
  • Provides training on Root Cause Analysis tools.
  • Ensures CAs are accurately entered into tracking system and monitors CA progress,  and escalates when progress is not being made to meet the required deadlines.
  • Manages queue of assigned CA items through the CA process, including ongoing resolution of issues and questions from CA owners.
  • Performs QA review prior to CA closure.
  • Develops reports, tools, and metrics to track NC & CA progress and identify trends.
  • Directly supports KUAS initiatives as pertaining to NCs & CAs.
  • Analyzes information to identify improvement opportunities and works with all stakeholders to help implement solutions to prevent future recurrence.
  • Assists business in development and implementation of CAs and risk mitigation strategies.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops recommendations to strengthen KUAS's internal controls and improve operational efficiency, including performing ongoing analysis of CA trends.
  • Sends communications and metrics to CA owners and department managers as appropriate, to ensure timeliness of CA closure based on Quality Management Systems requirements.
  • Works closely with CA Owners and Quality colleagues to identify and raise emerging issues and opportunities
  • Trains and provides guidance to CA Owners to foster high quality of information within CA tracking system.
  • Other duties may be assigned, as appropriate.
  • Contributes to and champions continuous improvement projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong Excel skills including pivot tables and graphing.
  • Ability to compile information and provide creative solutions to complex problems 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • AA degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum (2 years exp. or an equivalent combination of education and experience) at a company that designs and manufactures material, hardware, components and/or assemblies.
  • Familiarity with “5 Whys” and other industry standard CA tools & methodologies.
  • Experience performing Root Cause Anaylsis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and Plan-Do-Check-Act
  • Experience processing or managing CA’s from identification through closure. 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific, quality systems, or related discipline
  • 1-3 years of related document control experience desirable

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office and/or manufacturing  environment
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • May be exposed to possible shop hazards including high noise level, high pressure equipment, chemicals, and shop traffic.
  • Employee may generate, handle, manage, or work around hazardous materials and hazardous wastes.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 0-5% - May be required between KUAS locations
