Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Software Developer plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging. Prepares documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications. Supports contractual obligations and specified ISO and CMMI requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops training applications and associated toolsets.
  • May provide technical leadership for the multi-disciplinary project development team
  • Derive requirements for instructional systems from customer documents and derive software requirements as inputs to design.
  • May interface with customers
  • Develops tools, techniques and efficient processes for the construction and development of interactive courseware, computer assisted instructional materials and supporting simulation and interactive assets
  • Develops software and software tools to meet instructional requirements
  • Develops and maintains software backup, configuration management and quality control on program developments
  • Determines and maintains appropriate industry and government standards and specifications including SCORM, Section 508, etc.
  • Develops and maintains software backup, configuration management and quality control on program developments
  • Interfaces with Configuration Management and Quality Assurance to meet internal process standards.
  • Ensures security of applications and data in accordance with commercial and Government standards.
  • Develop test documentation to ensure all program requirements are met.
  • Interfaces with Configuration Management and Quality Assurance to meet internal process standards.

 Other Job Functions

  • Ensures the development and implementation of efficient data conversion utilities and tools
  • Integrates learning management system software implementations for computer-based, web-based, and distributed learning training.

Web Developer - The Software Developer plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. Using various software technologies and the Unity 3D gaming engine develops virtual and simulation driven solutions for awesome, simulation based, training products.  Develops designs, writes code, completes implementation, and performs testing and debugging. Prepares documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.

Experience and Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Required

  • Proficient with C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, HTML, AS3 or authoring systems
  • Proficient with 3D applications such as Unity 3D. Unreal Engine, WebGL, etc.
  • Proficient in the development of web applications
    • Strong experience with web development using HTML5
    • Proficient with Unity, JavaScript, Angular, JSON, C#

Preferred

  • Proficient with Service Oriented and Enterprise Architectures
  • Proficient with JIRA and Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel and MS Word
  • Familiar with SCORM, the Experience API or other training interface standard
  • Familiar with Information Assurance Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS/BFA  computer science, game development, software engineering or related degree with 4 years of directly related work experience or
  • AA/AS computer science, computer engineering, game development or software engineering with 6 years of directly related work experience or
  • 8 years of directly related work experience

 

WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Smoke free environment standard office setting
  • Sits for long periods of time in front of a computer
  • Frequently works in conference room setting attending meetings and planning sessions
  • Occasional travel of up to 1 week duration

The work environment characteristics are representative of those of an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/workstation situation.  Able to work sitting or standing at desk and operate a computer via standard input devices such as using a keyboard and reading information on a monitor.
