Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the SVP/GM, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing policies and programs covering the following: staffing, HRIS administration, compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, training, safety & health, and employee rewards & recognition here at KUAS.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads and manages Human Resources department and personnel for Kratos UAS company.

  • Develops and interprets human resources programs, policies, procedures, and controls; and recommends changes or innovations where desirable.

  • Ensures that employment practices are in compliance with applicable federal and state laws.

  • Directs staffing and recruiting activities, assuring that properly qualified employees are recruited and hired.

  • Coordinates selection, promotion, and placement of internal company personnel.

  • Confers with leadership regarding employee relations issues, conducts investigations and initiates corrective action as needed.

  • Administers training programs and ensures that employee training is current per the division Quality Management System.

  • Develops and directs administration of divisional wage and salary administration.

  • Manages employee performance appraisal programs.

  • Manages employee rewards and recognition programs, including utilizing vendors to support multi-tiered recognition, and coordinating HR sponsored employee engagement events.

  • Works in partnership with division Environmental Health & Safety department and production leadership to help oversee the administration of employee safety and health.

  • Works in conjunction with the corporate office to help coordinate employee benefit programs (medical, dental, 401k, etc.).

  • Administers leave of absence and workers compensation programs.

  • Maintains necessary files on personnel, including employment and training records.

  • Prepares and maintains organization charts.

  • Prepares and works within the Human Resources Department budget.

  • Ensures that employment practices are in compliance with applicable federal and state laws.

  • Other duties as assigned.

     

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Supervises human resources staff and front desk administrative assistant.

Experience and Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees within a cross-matrixed organization.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with the human resources staff.
  • Ability to develop human resources strategy and goals in alignment with overall company objectives.
  • Ability to communicate, influence, and gain commitment of senior leadership team to align to and execute on key initiatives.

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government and company standards

  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary

  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • MS Office proficient

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. degree in a related field

  • 10+ years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in a defense contractor or manufacturing environment

  • SPHR certification preferred

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office and/or manufacturing  environment

  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time

  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 25-50% May be required between KUAS locations
