Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Designs, develops, integrates and tests hardware and electronic components to be applied to and integrated with engineering, scientific and requirements.  Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support hardware systems from the board level to system level.  This position will provide direct support for our unmanned ground vehicle systems.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform detailed design of test control apparatus and equipment

  • Develop schematics and drawings to support fabrication

  • Research, design, develop and test electronic components, products and systems

  • Qualify and test developed hardware, test plans and procedures, and test systems

  • Consult with software engineers for hardware and software integration

  • Travel to customer’s sites within the U.S. or to Europe to perform vehicle surveys, system installations and follow-on testing as needed, oftentimes outdoors, and for a span of a few days to a few weeks

  • Must be at assigned worksite during assigned hours 100% of time; less PTO, FML/STD/LTD

  • Perform any other work-related tasks as directed by Director of Hardware Engineering

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:   

Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards

Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors

Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary

Ability to adhere to workplace rules

Ability to read, write and develop intelligible drawings, instructions and procedures

Ability to collaborate and work with a multi-functional team in a fast-paced environment

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

BS in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related technical field

Intermediate-level MS Office experience

Experience with automotive, aircraft mechanical, electrical repair, or system installation preferred

Demonstrated experience with a variety of hand and power tools

Hardware design and development of embedded microprocessor systems experience desired

Hardware design and development of RF systems experience desired

Military standards experience preferred

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Office and production environment

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time or work extended hours as necessary

Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones, use of arm-hand steadiness, finger dexterity, manual dexterity for small parts assembly, frequent use)

Possess a valid driver’s license / ability to obtain a CDL (at company’s expense) to allow driving of large utility trucks

Must be physically capable of maneuvering around the inside of various types of vehicles to access tight spaces, often outdoors in unconditioned air, in the performance of your duties

Must be able to work with minimum supervision and work well with co-workers

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Possess a passport or be willing and able to obtain (at company’s expense) to allow for work travel overseas

Ability to travel up to 50%, foreign and/or domestic
