Job Description

Kratos Space & Missile Defense Systems (KSMDS) is hiring a degreed engineer to support launch vehicle design, analysis, manufacturing and testing. The successful candidate will apply appropriate mechanical engineering principles to design, develop, implement, and test mechanical systems, subsystems, and components. Experience in linear and non-linear structural analysis is required. Experience with thermal analysis and dynamic analysis is desired. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing documentation to support internal and external customer reviews as necessary. This documentation may include, but is not limited to: specifications, drawing inputs, test plans, test procedures, test reports, analysis reports, and design review packages. The successful candidate will support test programs and conduct analysis of test setups to ensure compliance with flight requirements.

Experience and Skills



  • Design and analysis of launch vehicle mechanical systems and components.
  • Application of mechanical engineering disciplines to support assessment of mechanical system and component design, development, implementation, and testing against launch vehicle requirements.
  • Preparation of documentation for reviews or other purposes, including but not limited to: specifications, drawing inputs, test plans & procedures, test and analysis reports, and design review reports.
  • Support for test programs and analysis of test setups for compliance with flight requirements.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able obtain a minimum SECRET security clearance.


Required –

  • Experience in structural analysis using FEA and hand calculations.
  • Must be experienced and versatile with CAD modeling.

Preferred –

  • Experience with the design, analysis and testing of aerospace structures.
  • Previous DoD contract support experience.


  • B.S. Engineering Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or
  • M.S. Degree w/ appropriate skills shown through graduate school and/or internship experience.
