Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Works closely with management in the implementation of corporate policies related to human resources, organizational and employee development at the business unit or division level. Responsible for the management of all administrative processes and employee transactions and for programs covering the following, but not limited to, employment, wage and salary administration, compensation, employee relations, organizational development, orientation, training and education, communications, recruiting, safety and health.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure the Company is equipped to attract, retain and motivate a high quality, diverse workforce enabling it to carry out its mission and achieve its objectives
  • Work with position supervisors to: recruit, interview and hire qualified candidates
  • Serve as internal consultant to company management team, supervisors and employees on human resource issues that affect performance, employee retention and business relationships
  • Counsel supervisors in documenting performance issues
  • Function as facilitator and employee advocate with regard to workplace issues and concerns; meets with individual employees to hear complaints, explain company policy and mediate when necessary
  • Attend departmental and administrative meetings and assist management in the interpretation of human resources policies and procedures
  • Assist department heads by developing training priorities designed to increase staff competencies
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws related to employment (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, etc.)
  • Remain current with changes in human resource and employment law
  • Oversee personnel record keeping system related to new hires, employee reviews, promotions, transfers, separations and other required retention of records
  • Advise management regarding all employee terminations; oversee all aspects of employee terminations in conjunction with legal counsel, VP of Human Resources and General Manager
  • Serve as a conduit for corporate Human Resources to communicate policies, programs, etc. to local personnel

  • May perform ad hoc duties as assigned by corporate Human Resources

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position is responsible for the Administrative Assistant (Non-Exempt), HR Assistant (Non-Exempt), and the Service Desk Specialist (Exempt)

Experience and Skills

  • Advanced use of computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management systems, and related enterprise systems
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 5 years of related experience

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working with a government contractor and/or manufacturing environment
  • Human Resources certification

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)
