Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist will handle the administration of the day-to-day (division) operations of a fast-paced human resources department. He or she will be responsible for coordinating human resources functions within the division – to include sub-group and branch office(s) support. He or she will work closely with the corporate office to resolve escalated systems issues and employee inquiries.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Handle HRIS - HR data entry/updates; create and run reports; and analysis for HR management. 
  • Assist in the delivery, execution, and coordination of our annual salary planning, performance evaluations, and other relative projects.
  • Administer the entire pre-hire / onboard process – employment offer, background investigations, system(s) update/review, and new employee orientation.
  • Maintain personnel files and other HR records - ensure files are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and company’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform recruitment function for multiple business units/offices – requisitions, job postings, resume(s) distribution, phone screens, interview set-up, and candidate follow-up.
  • Assist with accurately maintaining our Applicant Tracking System.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with our corporate payroll group to ensure all related pay data and changes are processed in a timely manner.
  • Participate in our annual OE process for health benefits and employee programs.
  • Support our corporate benefits department in preparation of employee(s) LOAs.
  • Assist with corporate / division / business unit training initiatives.
  • Assist HR Manager with compliance (i.e. EEO-1, Vets 4212, and Affirmative Action) reporting and planning for appropriate locations.
  • Complete employment verifications and handle clearance investigations.
  • Assist with involuntary terminations and RIFs as well as conduct the exit process for voluntary resignations.
  • Manage basic international employment processes and procedures.
  • Travel between local offices frequently.* Long distance travel may be required.
  • Other duties will be assigned.

SCOPE OF WORK:  Recruitment – 80%   Other functions – 20%

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  None

*This position requires travel between local offices. Home base will be Lanham, MD office with travel to Alexandria, VA office at least 1 or 2 days per week.

Experience and Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:   

Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards. Government contracting experience a plus. Experience using ADP, Deltek/CostPoint, and additional data systems (HRIS). Ability to interact effectively with employees and management and the public, when necessary. Ability to adhere to workplace practices and regulations. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Possess broad Generalist experience, to include current knowledge of employment laws, recruitment, benefits, and payroll. Knowledge of MS Office with advanced skills in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Excellent organizational skills and extensive attention to detail (tackle work tasks with full certainty and minimal errors). Confident interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to organize multiple priorities and take initiative, when necessary. Capable of working independently (minimal supervision) within a fast-pace environment. Familiar with international employment practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.

Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a comparable role.

WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Office environment – capable of working in an unorthodox organizational structure

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time

Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
