Job Description

Kratos is a trusted global satellite ground systems, communications monitoring, RF interference detection and network management company. Kratos is in the process of evolving and growing our SATCOM enterprise service management product offerings to better serve our government customer base. 

Production Process Engineer 

Develop and improve the manufacturing process within Kratos Space. Process Engineers are responsible for understanding, documenting, characterizing, controlling and improving the manufacturing process. They provide support for the integration and test technicians and ensure that we deliver consistently high quality hardware and software solutions to our customers. The successful candidate will have experience working as a process engineer in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of departments to develop, sustain and improve processes and to create, implement and manage detailed process documentation in support of them. The individual in this position will interface collaboratively with Project Managers (PM’s), Project Engineers (PE’s), Engineering Services, Production and many others across multiple disciplines and, in some cases, across geographical locations. Selected major areas of responsibility for this position are:

Experience and Skills

  • Develop controlled manufacturing processes by collaborating with product and solutions engineers starting at the design phase and continuing throughout the product life cycle.
  • Be a role model to encourage a positive, collaborative culture throughout the organization.
  • Be the liaison between the Production and Engineering teams; working to ensure scheduled deliverables are designed in and met at or below cost targets and on time delivery dates.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement projects in the manufacturing process
  • Review manufacturing work instructions to ensure they contain the necessary details to facilitate accurate and precise execution of assemblies in a production environment.  Experience with automated workflow tools (MES) such as Promis, Workstream or Epicor is a definite plus.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to investigate quality or reliability issues as required.
  • Support the development, implementation and tracking of key manufacturing metrics, gathering data to support continuous improvements in product performance, cost, yield and quality.
  • Ensure alignment with ISO 9001 requirements
  • Solicit internal customer feedback at relevant points in the process and develop methods to collect, analyze and act on the feedback

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with standing up new programs and leading successful change management activities
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret customer documents, specifications and deliverables and to transfer these into manufacturing requirements.
  • Flexibility to deal with changing priorities and requirements and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Strong quantitative/problem solving skills (i.e., PDCA or DMAIC, FMEA), detail oriented and thorough.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management/personnel, team player who can quickly build rapport and credibility
  • Understanding of IPC-A-610/620 and J-STD-001 requirements is preferred.
  • Understanding of SPC, Tolerance Stacks, p charts, Gauge R&R, and low volume statistical analysis techniques.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, facilitation, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline

U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance is required.
