Job Description:

The Manager of Benefits is a hands-on role that provides an opportunity to manage all benefit programs and processes. It includes oversight to benefit practices, offerings and analytics designed to help ensure retention, engagement and a positive work experience within the Company.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning, analysis, obtaining leadership/organizational buy-in, development and implementation for all benefits offerings through collaboration with HR staff and the appropriate Executive Team Leader(s) to align with the organizations strategic goals
  • Continually analyze benefits policies and practices; ensure that programs are current with regard to trends, practices and costs
  • Negotiates coverage, services and costs with carriers and brokers; ensures that programs are current with regard to trends, practices and costs.
  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives
  • Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements
  • Responsible for the development, administration, communication and ongoing maintenance of policies and practices related to benefits and systems to ensure they meet organizational needs that are compliant.
  • Provide consultative advice and excellent customer service to HR business partners on benefits, policy and best practices
  • Review, negotiate and monitor contract provisions with vendors and service providers
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with a high level of effective interface with HR team members, Finance, Payroll, IT and Legal

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in HR
  • CBP (Certified Benefits Professional) or CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) is a plus
  • Proven ability to capture, analyze and maintain benefit practices
  • In-depth experience and resourcefulness in benefits practices
  • Effective vendor management experience required
  • Communicates effectively at all levels
  • Experience with a global company
  • Deep financial acumen and analytical skills ยท Strong Program/Project Management skills
  • Computer literacy, including all Microsoft Office applications and information systems to include manager and employee self-service applications
  • Expertise in HRIS/payroll shared services best practices (ADP Vantage a plus)
  • Strong Continuous improvement mindset and experience with LEAN tools
  • Ability to lead and engage teams
  • Public company and Defense industry experience a plus

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Specialized knowledge of systems, benefits, and compliance related issues
  • Understanding of various methods of financing benefit plans and the impact on company financials, accounting, and payroll
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements related to total rewards and systems
  • Effective and proven interpersonal relations a must: particularly tact, sensitivity, professionalism, confidentiality and diplomacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and planning skills, including demonstrated ability to design and implement effective communications, handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, set goals and enforce deadlines, while maintaining flexibility to reassess and prioritize goals
  • Ability to influence others through leadership of team members and effective consultative advice to management
