Job Description:


The Director of Supply Chain oversees the supply chain management function for Gichner Shelter Systems Group. This position will establish overall strategy and approach in order to maximize efficiency and provide guidance to process and systems to ensure the timely and efficient fulfillment of customer orders to attain maximum sales potential. This position will be responsible for the integration and improvement as well as plant scheduling, capacity management, inventory and materials replenishment, on time delivery, and other supply chain processes.
Job Requirements


  • Directs an organization's overall supply chain operations, including purchasing and inventory of raw materials, selection of vendors, and distribution of finished goods.
  • Evaluates past performance data to forecast needs and production scheduling.
  • Develops strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of supply chain operations.
  • Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
  • Leads the overall Sales & Operations Inventory Planning (SIOP) process for the business and ensures coordination of all parts of the supply chain process.
  • Leads strategy development and implementation of initiatives on demand planning, supply planning, production planning, rough-cut capacity planning, inventory management, logistics management, and Material Management including related metrics.
  • Implements special projects to improve productivity, network optimizations, customer metrics, supplier negotiations, and other continuous improvement efforts.
  • Oversees the succession planning and career development of the supply chain team.
  • Implements continuous improvement programs across supply chain to reduce fixed and variable costs (raw material usage) and increase availabilities.
  • Provides leadership and structure to the supply chain team that ensures optimal alignment between Plant capacity and sourcing to ensure we can meet the external demand plan at the appropriate inventory levels.
  • Sets expectations for the development and ongoing refinement of the Monthly Operating Review...
  • Leads the process that ensures proper prioritization, allocation, escalation and communication of process robustness and product availability to support sales.
  • Drives a culture of team work and collaboration with Procurement, Manufacturing, HSE, Engineering, Sales, and Finance.

This position will oversee Sourcing, Expediting, Material Control, Shipping, Receiving, Scheduling, and Planning.

Experience and Skills:


Excellent background in supply chain management in a complex manufacturing environment.

Prior experience in leading and managing a supply chain team.

Strong professional presence and communication skills with the ability to mentor subordinates and interface with executives.

Strong leadership skills that create an accountable work environment and enable change management.

Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.

Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.

Ability to adhere to workplace rules.


Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or Business Managment or 10+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or supply chain

Master's Degree Preferred

Basic computer skills required

Ability to read, write and follow written instructions
