Job Description:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Tooling Maintenance Specialist inspects, documents, and processes all tooling used in production. Duties include performing routine inspections on defined tooling used in production. Processing of documentation related to the tool inspections. Database management of tooling inspects and locations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform tooling inspections as defined in the tooling inspection process for, but not limited to the following types of tools.

    • Lamination molds – Aluminum & Composite

    • Bonding tooling

    • Fixtures

    • Jigs

  • Comprehend dimensions, tolerances and geometric tolerances.
  • Understand and use standard drafting practices, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances (GDT) per ANSI Y 14.5
  • Inspect using basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, depth gage, etc.)
  • Assist with generating and updating tooling database.

  • Coordinate tooling repairs or modifications with the production planner & production management as required.

  • Assist as needed with tool repairs and modifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Required:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suites, (Excel and Word).

  • Must be able to demonstrate the accurate use of measurement equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot failures with tooling.

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.

  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.

  • Ability to effectively communicate professionally in writing or verbally with all levels of personnel.

  • Must be detail oriented and well organized.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Requires high school education or equivalent; Associates Degree or trade program preferred.
  • 1-3 years hands-on experience in composite manufacturing.

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office and/or manufacturing  environment.

  • Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.

  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, filing).

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Use hand tools. 

  • Occasionally lifts and carries heavy objects.

  • May work extended hours and/or weekends.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 0-10% Travel required between KUAS locations.
