Job Description:


Under the direct supervision of the Customers Program Director, the Capabilities, Development and Integration (CDI) Cells Network Specialist is responsbile for developing, planning, analyzing, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluating both current and emerging networks and associated networking systems, such as local and wide area networks (LAN & WAN), and / or a segment of a DoD network system or circuit for a United States Department of Defense (DoD) Government Facility, with networking requirements that may span multiple projects as part of our support efforts for the DoD. Additionally, the respective new employee must be able to perform network maintenance on hardware and employ software solutions to monitor network health and statuses to ensure networks operate properly with minimal interruption in service to our supported Customer.  The new employee must demonstrate a thorough understanding on how to configure and maintain routers, switches and in-line encryptors, as required, by the supported Customer task.  The new employee must demonstrate the ability to research and identify innovate technologies that may introduce network efficiencies on behalf of the customer, enhancing the level and quality of service for the customer, and develop Courses of Action on how best to procure and implement identified solutions for implementation.      



  • Plan and implement network solutions based on customer requirements
  • Analyze network functionality to determine areas of network inefficiencies and identify solutions to increase network efficiencies
  • Configure security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals
  • Configure wide area network (WAN) or local area network (LAN) routers or related equipment
  • Document and reference network support activities and configuration modifications
  • Configure and define parameters for installation or testing of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), hubs, routers, switches, controllers, multiplexers, or related networking equipment.
  • Evaluate local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) performance data to ensure sufficient availability or speed, to identify network problems, or for disaster recovery purposes.
  • Provide network support related to Voice over IP requirements and implement the necessary network routing to ensure TCP/IP and UDP messages are sent/received
  • Install network management software, including security or firewall software, as applicable to monitor the health and status of deployed networks
  • Develop, deploy and manage 4G LTE Networks with in-line encryption (i.e. Taclanes) for use in austere training environments
  • Install or repair network cables, including fiber optic cables, when necessary
  • Identify causes of networking problems, using diagnostic testing software and equipment and develop solutions to mitigate the effects of identified problem areas
  • Install new hardware or software systems and applications, when necessary, ensuring each component integrates with existing networked systems

  • Must be proficient in basic and advanced computer applications, operating systems and network planning software e.g. Windows Commands, MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio), Linux, Cisco, SolarWinds
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills
  • Proficient in documenting network configurations to include necessary updates or modifications
  • Ability to update firmware on in-line encryption devices as well as switches and routers
  • Must possess a current Secret Security Clearance


  • Experience working in a classified US DoD Government Facility with Army Air Defense Systems 



  • BS in an IT-related field is preferred, but experience and specialized trainig in lieu of a techinical degree is acceptable
  • Current Cisco CCNA Certification
  • Vendor Certificates to included Network+ and Security+
  • 6+ years working in an IT or CS related work environment
  • Travel Required: 15%
