Job Description:

Our Lanham office is currently in the need of a Staff Systems Engineer who is involved in all phases of the development, configuration and testing and deployment of a satellite control system.  The Staff Systems Engineer also plans, conducts and supervises assignments/tasks engineers within a given project as required.

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  •  Serves as technical lead with a high degree of knowledge in the area of a satellite control center operations and system engineering and has recognized expertise in this area
  • Has advanced knowledge and experience in the field of satellite operations relating to the design, implementation and support of satellite control center hardware and software

  • Plans, conducts and supervises assignments/tasks within given project

  • Oversees and/or participates in the establishment of deliverable systems by executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of PC and server hardware, software, LAN and WAN networks and operating and system management systems including development of necessary documentation as required

  • Evaluates progress/results and recommends future direction on projects and Kratos-manufactured software to management

  • Works closely with customers and coworkers to provide guidance in the identification and resolution of problems; problem solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure

  • Interprets, applies and communicates various rules/regulations and compliance requirements to project teams

  • Researches, evaluates and recommends computer equipment and 3rd party software; prepares purchase requisitions

  • Prepares and conducts formal test and customer training programs

  • Works independently or as a member of a project team on advanced software and or hardware projects

  • Requires willingness and ability to travel outside the United States for five to seven weeks a year

Ability to create and animate MIMIC diagrams based upon satellite bus and/or payload documentation 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related technology field

Requires 3+ years systems engineering experience and/or satellite operations experience

Experience with EPOCH IPS and the deployment and test of such systems highly desirable and with other control systems also desirable

Basic understanding of LAN/WAN networks

Experience with installation and configuration of Windows, Linux and VMWare based systems

Training and/or hands-on knowledge of satellite communications desired
