Job Description:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Perform aerodynamic and aero-thermal analysis to support the development of  high-speed and hypersonic weapon systems.

Utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling on High Performance Computing (HPC) platforms for evaluating trajectory-based aerodynamic heating and aerodynamic performance.

Assist in developing software tools for high-speed aerodynamic and aero-thermal problems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Employ CFD software to analyze high-speed or hypersonic flow environments and systems

  • Utilize experience with high-speed aero-thermodynamics and missile aerodynamics

  • Develop written reports, briefings, and other documentation

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office environment

  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time

  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)

Experience and Skills:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES DESIRED:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with Linux operating system

  • Experience with programming in C++, Fortran, MATLAB, Python, or similar

  • Experience with advanced CFD software packages:

    • NASA FUN3D and FUN3D-HE CFD solvers

    • US3D CFD Solver

    • DPLR3D CFD Solver

    • NASA OVERFLOW CFD solver and associated meshing tools

    • Pointwise mesher

    • TECPLOT

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum BS Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with MS degree preferred

  • 0 to 5 years of experience

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship
