Job Description:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 

Provide support and technical assistance as part of a multi-functional team to identify and improve production processes, maintenance processes, products and materials related to electronic/avionic industrial production.  Will analyze failures or deficiencies in materials, systems, or equipment to identify failure modes, determine causes, and recommend the appropriate means of corrective action.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

PRIMARY –

  • Must possess comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles to successfully document and recommend change action procedures and processes related repair and maintenance of avionic equipment and production equipment.

  • Analyze, test, and report on trends, significant patterns, or boundaries as related to electronics, mechanical systems, or building complex electronic systems.

  • Develop reports documenting problem data, analyses, and recommended solutions including supporting rationale.

  • Accurately read engineering drawings, architectural plans and specifications to analyze research, interpret, and apply rules, regulations and procedures to complete the task.

  • Determine the best value resolution for each problem as warranted and provide a recommended course of action, along with viable alternatives as required.

  • Maintain safe and clean working environment and comply with all applicable security and safety regulations

     

    SECONDARY –

  • Bending/lifting requirement – 30 pounds unassisted

  • Must be able to follow OSHA regulations and application of job specific safety/PPE shop requirements

     

Experience and Skills:

JOB SKILLS:

Required –

  • Proficient in general computer technology related to an office environment.

  • Knowledge of standard engineering methods, practices and techniques used in an electronic environment as well as knowledge of the operation, function and application of test equipment and instrumentation used for automatic testing of electronic systems and components including associated software.

Preferred –

  • Experience utilizing AutoCad is preferred but not required

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent and Technical School Certification/Degree in one of the following fields: scientific, engineering, electronics, mechanical or other similar field.

  • Four year degree in computer science, IT, electronics or other similar field preferred but not required. (Degree in one of these fields will eliminate the requirement for a Technical School Degree/Certification and can also be considered toward work experience).

  • Eight years experience required in a scientific, technical, engineering or industrial avionic/electronic production related field, with three years in direct support of electronic, industrial, or mechanical engineering activities/functions. 

  • If substituting work/military experience in lieu of any education requirement, an additional 1 year experience is required.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics are representative of those performing essential functions of the job in an industrial production and repair environment. Able to work sitting or standing or operating government owned vehicles. Standard work week but expected to work as the requirement dictates.  Possibility of electrical shock, burns from electrical energy or hot solder, and minor cuts/bruises.
