Job Description:

Kratos Defense & Rocket Support Services is currently seeking a Targeting and Tracking Engineer/Scientist to perform engineering activities for laser/E-O systems and perform system analytical and performance studies. Additional duties will include: 

• Perform software and hardware definition analysis.
• Perform software & hardware development of prototypes, subsystems and system tools.
• Perform modeling and simulation engineering.
• Perform Laser/E-O development, integration, testing and evaluation.
• Perform all aspects of laboratory and field testing, including setting test goals, developing test methodologies, organizing and conducting tests, reducing test data and analyzing results.
• Produce technical reports on findings, provide system data collection and analysis, and conduct technical documentation reviews.
• Report critical finds to military and DoD civilian leadership.
• Transition replacement personnel per SOP.

Experience and Skills:

Successful candidate must have:

  • Experience on U.S. Navy and Joint Laser/Electro-Optical Systems research and development programs is preferred.
  • Demonstrated abilities to interface with the Navy/Marines/Joint to develop and support technical positions, to justify technical recommendations, and to write technical publications.
  • Intimate familiarity with lab processes and work flow.
  • Masters Degree MS in Electrical Engineering or relevant equivalent technical engineering degree, or equivalent professional experience performing in a technically relevant engineering field.
  • Ten (10) years of experience developing, designing and testing tracking systems for any laser weapon systems designed to designate, track and engage with high energy laser. Further experience in one or more of the following: image or signal processing; design of track algorithms such as centroid, leading edge, hot-spot, contrast tracking; track hand-off; sensor fusion and sensor requirements as they relate to passive and active tracking design and development; gated imagery; pulsed and continuous wave illuminators; boresight alignment and requirements related to tracking, and control architectures.
  • Five (5) years of experience with U.S. Navy or other armed services laser/EO systems research and development programs.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have active DoD Secret Clearance.
