Job Description:

Successful candidate installs, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs avionics systems wiring in aircraft in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and DoD regulations. Fabricates, installs and tests installation, routing, clamping and wiring harnesses. Reads wiring diagrams and blueprints.  Assembles and/or fits together parts to form subassemblies and/or complete units

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The duties and responsibilities listed below apply to all levels of Aircraft /Avionics Technicians.  Each level has additional duties and responsibilities listed.

Aircraft / Avionics Technicians ALL

  1. Performs a variety of tasks, which require knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools and equipment.
  2. Follows FOD (foreign object prevention) practices.
  3. Follows ESD (electronic static discharge prevention) practices.
  4. Interprets and follows manufacturing orders.
  5. Operates shop related machinery to include torque wrench, pneumatic tools, common hand tools and scales.
  6. Supports and exhibits the focus of zero defects as well as right-the-first-time approach.
  7. Inspects finished products for conformance to specifications.
  8. May work from verbal instructions.
  9. Complies with established safety directives.
  10. Maintains a clean work area and ensures strict adherence to the 5S Standards.
  11. Complies with established QMS procedures.

 

Aircraft / Avionics Technician I

  1. Works under close supervision.
  2. Demonstrates a basic understanding of aircraft drawings and schematics.
  3. Proficiently executes basic FOD (Foreign Object Prevention) practices.
  4. Performs basic safety wire installation.
  5. Performs basic wire soldering procedures.
  6. Assists others during ATP (Aircraft Test Procedures) process.
  7. Assists senior Aircraft Assemblers with installation of components during aircraft buildup, at Fuselage and Aircraft Assembly levels.

 

Aircraft / Avionics Technician II

  1. Works under limited supervision.
  2. Assembles aircraft parts and sub-assemblies.
  3. May work from engineering drawings, rough sketches and/or manuals.
  4. Rivets both solid and blind rivets.
  5. Installs safety wire.
  6. Installs electronic components.
  7. May perform electronic assembly soldering, crimping, splicing and harness fabrication, and control panel building.
  8. Consistently performs to established production standards
  9. Has basic understanding of Aircraft testing principles including preparation for and testing of avionics and propulsion systems
  10. Can perform basic troubleshooting of wire harnesses, coax cables, electrical systems
  11. Has basic understanding of RF principles including uses of transmitters, receivers and antennas

 

Aircraft / Avionics Technician III

  1. Works under minimal supervision.
  2. Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
  3. Ability to use electronic testing equipment.
  4. Perform electronic assembly tasks including soldering.
  5. Prepares and installs wire harnesses and electronic assemblies.
  6. Assists in the troubleshooting of aircraft as needed.
  7. Demonstrates the ability to perform required repairs as directed by Engineering and Supervision.
  8. Ability to train less experienced assemblers in the proper assembly of aircraft.
  9. Follows ATP (Aircraft Test Procedure) practices.
  10. Performs electronic assembly soldering, crimping, splicing and harness fabrication, and control panel building.
  11. Consistently performs at or above established production standards.
  12. Has good understanding of Aircraft testing principles including preparation for and testing of avionics and propulsion systems
  13. Can perform troubleshooting of wire harnesses, coax cables, electrical systems
  14. Has good understanding of RF principles including uses of transmitters, receivers and antennas

 

 

Other Job Functions

  • Other duties may be assigned
  • Must perform and/or assist all activities normally found in aerial target maintenance, including the use of hand and power tools, lifting heavy objects, and working with industrial chemicals and adhesives such as epoxy, grease, jet fuel, oils, and cleaners. 
  • May be required to work extended hours or weekends, as needed
  • infrequent travel domestically for extended durations at times as assigned
  • Supports flight operations, maintenance and logistical support for unmanned aerial systems and related equipment.

  2. Must be able to demonstrate adequate basic math skills.
  3. Must be able to demonstrate the accurate use of a tape measure.
  4. Must be able to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  5. Requires high school education or equivalent.
  6. Typical qualifications for this level include:
  • Basic math skills
  • Documentation – skills in reading and writing various forms of documentation
  • Basic computer skills
  • Developing  knowledge of the materials used within the department
  • Ability to operate equipment being used within the department
  • Developing an understanding of and working within CEis Assembly Processes
  • Ensuring all work is completed within the acceptable standards of CEis Quality Program

 

Aircraft / Avionics Technician II

  1. Must be able to perform basic lamination repairs.
  2. Ability to use precision hand tools.
  3. Typical qualifications for this level include an intermediate level of:
  • Math Skills
  • Documentation– skills in reading and writing various forms of documentation
  • Computer Skills
  • Materials Knowledge
  • Ability to operate equipment used within department
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow processes and procedures
  • Ability to understand and follow CEis Quality System

 

Aircraft / Avionics Technician III

  1. Experience with aircraft assembly desired.
  2. Interpret and work from industry specifications.
  3. Typical qualifications for this level include an advanced level of:
  • Math Skills
  • Documentation– skills in reading and writing various forms of documentation
  • Computer Skills
  • Materials Knowledge
  • Ability to operate complex equipment used within department
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow processes and procedures
  • Repair – Ability to perform extensive trouble-shooting and execute repairs as directed by Engineering and Supervision
  • Ability to understand and follow CEis Quality System
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules
  • Ability to effectively communicate professionally in writing or verbally with all levels of personnel

Experience and Skills:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess a Final Secret clearance, with an investigation within the last 5 years.
  • May be required to obtain a Special Program Access prior to start.
  • Applicants should have a complete understanding of Aviation and Aerospace technical data.
  • High School Diploma (or GED) and 4 years additional education or AA Degree. Experience may be used in lieu of education.

  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Standing, walking, bending, reaching and working from slightly elevated surface on a regular
