Job Description:

 

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Perform troubleshooting on electronic equipment down to the component level. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

AET ALL

The duties and responsibilities listed below apply to all levels of AET.  Each level of AET has additional proficiencies with the duties and responsibilities listed.

  1. Fabricates, assembles, installs, repairs, modifies, tests, operates and troubleshoots avionics/electrical modules, components, and wire harnesses.
  2. Installs wires and electrical components into electrical assemblies per engineering drawings and specifications.
  3. Tests and performs fault isolation of components.
  4. Responsible for failure determination of electronics/avionic boxes.
  5. Responsible to inspect aircraft assembly work and ensure product and workmanship meets quality specifications.
  6. Checks drawings, travelers, and part kits for accuracy and advises of deficiencies.
  7. Tests aircraft instruments and systems, such as automatic flight controls, inertial navigation, and compass systems.
  8. Uses a variety of electrical measuring and diagnostic equipment.
  9. Will perform complete testing using manufacturing manuals, schematics and drawings
  10. Presents innovative ideas to improve manufacturing process.
  11. Follows FOD (foreign object prevention) practices.
  12. Complied with established QMS and Safety procedures and directives.

AET I

  1. Works under close supervision.

 

AET II

  1. Works under limited supervision.
  2. May act as delegated authority in supervisors absence.
  3. Capabale of leading Engine Test Run with minimal supervision.
  4. Routinely meets or exceeds published standards for assigned tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:   

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards

  • Must have hands-on experience as a Avionics Technician
  • Strong decision making abilities.
  • Strong isolation & troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate accurate basic math skills.
  • Must be able to read schematics and drawings
  • Demonstrates proficiency at electronic assembly, soldering, crimping, splicing, harness fabrication, and control panel building
  • Must be able to test & isolate failures to components
  • Must be able to install components.

Experience and Skills:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The education and experience listed below apply to all levels of AET.  Each successive level of AET has additional proficiencies with the education and experience listed.

AET I

  • Requires high school education or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of aviation/aircraft and/or aircraft maintenance experience. 

AET II

  • 5+ years of aviation/aircraft and/or aircraft maintenance experience and all skills listed above.

 

WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Standing, walking, bending, reaching and working from slightly elevated surface on a regular basis

Manipulating materials and tools.

Use of hand tools

Occasionally lifts and carries heavy objects 

Must be able to lift 50 pounds

May work extended hours or weekends

Possibility of exposure to noise and hazardous chemicals
