GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Analyze source of failure shall accurately diagnose faults and take appropriate repair actions to restore Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), Shop Replaceable Units (SRUs), Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and special purpose test equipment to operational condition.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Accurately diagnose faults in the test stations and Test Program Sets (TPS) and take required repair actions to restore electronic units or test stations, multi-conductor cables and wiring harnesses to fully operational and serviceable status.
Shall assist in the validation/verification process to identify and determine faults inserted in new TPS prior to acceptance when required.
Review and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals in the performance of repair, troubleshooting, and technical analysis duties for reparable units and test stations.
Perform self-devised, supplemental fault or technical analysis routines when failures are beyond the scope of automated diagnostics program Test Program Sets (TPS) to isolate the faulty components.
Repair, modify, troubleshoot, calibrate, align and functionally test electronic equipment and test stations, both manual and automatic as necessary.
Perform in-depth technical analysis to resolve issues pertaining to technical problems on specified weapons systems.
Perform in-depth analysis of test software and recommend specific corrective actions. Assist in prototype and first article testing to ensure the client receives a fully functional TPS that identifies faults quickly and accurately.
Bending/lifting requirement – 30 pounds unassisted
Must be able to follow OSHA regulations and application of job specific safety/PPE shop requirements
Maintain safe and clean working environment and comply with all applicable security and safety regulations
Experience repairing, troubleshooting and/or testing one or more of the following: Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), Test Program Sets (TPS), circuit cards, electronic wiring harnesses and multi-conductor cables.
Knowledge/experience of the following avionic test equipment/sets: APN232, GPS ARC 171, ALQ 161 and 122, ALR 169, AIC 164/169 and DATSA. Specific Electronic Warfare and Communication/Navigation experience is a plus.
Knowledge of CADSTAR Program and FEDMIX to obtain relevant drawings/parts lists and technical specifications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED)
Technical School Degree or similar certification required in one of the following fields: electronics, electrical, mechanical or similar field such as pre-engineering.
Four year degree in computer science, IT, electronics, electrical technology or other similar field preferred but not required. Degree in one of these fields will eliminate the requirement for a Technical School Degree/Certification.
Eight years total experience in a scientific, technical, engineering or industrial avionic/electronic production related field. Four of which should be directly related to avionic test and repair.
If substituting work or military experience in lieu of a technical school degree/certification, an additional 1 year experience is required unless directly related/specific and similar to job requirement.
